Argo on Parade – I Know What The Fuss is all About… (cafe review)
This cafe has had crowds and lineups outside ever since they opened. I drive past it everyday and always wondered why it is continually booming when the rest of retail and hospitality is in a flat spin?
Zak and I decided to test out Argo Cafe during our 48 hour ‘Bloke Blitz’ last Saturday morning. The atmosphere was buzzing with staggeringly good looking people that enjoy a chat and a good coffee…so we fitted in just beautifully!:)
The clipboard menu has heaps of delicious (and sweet) choices for the average joe’s, with healthy alternatives for the hipsters. Each dish has a name, making for easy ordering at the counter. I ordered the ‘Benny Way You Like’ (Eggs Benedict) and Zak ordered the ‘Banana Adventure’.
We only waited 5-10 minutes before my cappuccino was delivered and was delicious. The core of a cafe is the coffee flavour, and Argo has nailed it. The choc sprinkle pattern was different which also caught my attention, and I spent the next few minutes determining if this pattern gives me more chocolate…I think it does!. Zak ordered an iced coffee which had extra options of cream and ice cream – which he took up of course.
The decor is casual but trendy, and has a bouncy, busy atmosphere. My Eggs arrived first and I couldn’t wait for Zak so started to dig in. One of the waiting staff noticed his breakfast had not arrived and sorted it within 2 minutes and delivered it to our table herself. Great service…impressed!
The waiting staff are super switched on and of course are hoping to turn over each table quickly to keep the waiting customers happy. I didn’t feel pressured to belt down my breakky, but I knew as soon as I made a move the table would be snapped up.
Whilst soaking up the atmosphere I saw some people on the line outside that I knew so gave them a wave between bites.
Argo has a loyalty system which tracks your visits and beams your name up onto a digital screen which keeps people entertained and coming back to see if they can get their name up in lights. Very clever, but we didn’t have time to work out how to use it on this visit.
Overall a great experience – and when I took my pics afterwards I noticed the fine details in the architecture such as the designer graffiti walls and monogrammed floral wall. Great touches for the busiest cafe in Adelaide.
I don’t normally review cafe’s and restaurants but felt I needed to expose the reasons why this place is ALWAYS busy and now I can see why. Well done Mr Argo and staff.
